Exercise

Regular exercise during and after your treatment can help keep your energy levels up, reduce anxiety and stress levels, boost your mood and help you sleep better. The aim should be to keep up your normal levels of physical activity during treatment without over-exerting yourself. If you have any restriction in movement following therapy (shoulder, neck or limbs following surgery), it is best to consult with a physical therapist before beginning any strenuous exercise routine.

Some examples of routines you can follow are:

  • Yoga

  • Walking, starting at 5-10 minutes aiming to achieve 30 minutes at a stretch

  • Stretching with resistance bands

  • Cycling

  • Swimming
